Garage Sale at Uptown Body and Fender
We hung this show last month for a private jazz and wine event. It looked great, but now it’s our turn. We replaced the Christmas wreaths with fresh work from some of our friends, and will have a DJ and a bunch of other cool stuff. It’s free, it’s from 6-9pm, and it’s on 26th street between Telegraph and Broadway in Oakland. Check out links to the artists’ websites below.

This is sure to be a crazy, fun, and super packed art show with 14 artists organized by Obi Kaufmann. This is the last show Obi is organizing at Zza’s. I’ll have one piece in this show and will be there for sure. Many thanks to Mr. Kaufmann for all his work promoting the art scene in Oakland. We are having a little preview of this show tonight at Uptown Body and Fender in Oakland. The event is sponsored by Second Saturday Salon and the musical guest is Kenny Washington with friends. Artists included in the preview show are David Polka, thomas christopher haag, Erik Bakke, Linda Bakke, and myself. Tickets for the musical event tonight are $30 and available at the door. The First Friday Art Murmur show is free and will have a handful of additional pieces, since we will have a little more room to spread out.

Figurative Works at San Joaquin Delta College
I have a piece in the Figurative Arts show juried by DeWitt Cheng, and I’m planning to be at the opening at San Joaquin Delta College. Reception October 6th, 5-7pm. Here is the link to the web page they put up for the show- Figurative Works.
This has been a fun little series. I’m calling it “Gazellda’s Watering Hole” and it is online at gazelldas.com. It’s also been a fun website to make, it is a bunch of little cartoons that I am posting regularly, and a twitter feed from one of the characters. I have plans for a story of sorts with these characters, but I just started the project and have a ways to go. I thought I would get the website going now though. Enjoy!

Elle Macphearson recently got in hot water about making a weird statement admitting she eats rhino horn (story here). She claims it was a bad joke. It’s okay Elle, your not the only one that likes to joke about the slaughter of endangered animals!

The last Live Art Wednesday at Levende
Well… it was a great little run at Levende for Live Art Wednesdays. I had a great time hanging out and meeting lots of great artists. It was also a new experience making art in public for me, and turned out to be helpful in coming up with some new ideas and a giant stack of fun new work. Tons of fun, I will miss it! The Last Live Art Wednesday is Scheduled for June 1st, 2011.
