This is another screen print I made using the new technique I am developing. I used a Conte Crayon and charcoal for the drawing and used the original drawing as my positive for the screen prints. The drawing is on translucent paper to allow light to travel through the paper and set up the emulsion. The charcoal blocks out the light and when the screen is washed, the emulsion washes out, but only where the charcoal blocked out the light. Then ink is passed through the screen and you get a print with your original image. The dark lines transfer wonderfully and have the same textures as the original drawing. The tones and gradients are a little trickier to capture the subtleties of the crayon and charcoal.
